17th International EWODOR symposium

17th International EWODOR symposium

The next EWODOR symposium (European Working group On Drug-Oriented Research) will be held in Ghent, Belgium, on September 20th and 21st, 2018.

The objective of the XVII EWODOR Symposium is to better understand the process of addiction recovery and to identify pathways that promote recovery or challenges that may impede the recovery process, based on contemporary research and practices.

The central theme of this year’s symposium is “Pathways and challenges to addiction recovery: The role of treatment, self-help and other mechanisms of change”.

The conference will focus on the role of residential and outpatient treatment and specific interventions/services, as well as on the role of other change mechanisms such as self-help and peer support, and the role of self-change or natural recovery. In particular, the aim is to explore the recovery process in relation to gender, families, ethnic minority groups and criminal desistance.

Final programme of the conference can be found here.

Further details and late changes will be available on the conference website.
