13. To Let GO!
Some codependents find it hard to let go and stop controlling. Some of the sentences below might help you to see that you don't have to stop caring - and that your controlling will not help either the drug addict or yourself:
- To let go of control means not to stop caring - it means that I cannot make a decision for another person.
- To let go of control means not to take care, but to care.
- To let go of control means to accept your powerlessness, which means that I cannot control the outcomes.
- To let go of control means not to nag, quarrel or shout at someone, but to see your own faults and try to correct them.
- To let go of control means not to judge but to be human.
