Background
& Stand-Point
EURAD - A grass roots forum for co-operation among organisations
of parents, youth and concerned citizens was formally launched
at a press conference at the Parliament of Europe at Strasbourg
on 25th October, 1988.
The need for EURAD was increasingly felt by parents and concerned
citizens in order to promote the informal exchange of support and
fresh ideas between countries. Another reason was that the European
Community was to become a single market in 1992. In view of the
free movement of people and goods, EURAD considers it urgent to
unite in a common voice and oppose the legalisation propaganda
pervading certain European countries.
At a constituting meeting held in Berlin in April 1989, funded
by the European Commission, EURAD was established as a foundation
with its seat in The Hague. Members from Denmark, England, Finland,
West Germany, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden
formed a Council.
